Why we do what we do
Back in 2018, our founder Elspeth Carmody was sitting in a café in Townsville when she overheard two teachers discussing their retirement plans. They were confused, frustrated, and honestly quite scared about whether they'd saved enough.
That conversation stuck with her. She'd spent years working in financial planning and kept seeing the same pattern—people earning decent incomes but lacking confidence in their financial decisions. Not because they weren't smart, but because the industry made everything unnecessarily complicated.
So she did something about it. xelurathomi was born from that simple idea: what if financial guidance actually made sense to regular people?

What guides us every day
These aren't corporate buzzwords we stuck on a wall. They're the principles that shape every client conversation we have.
Honest assessment
We tell you what your numbers actually mean—no sugarcoating, no jargon. If your current approach needs work, we'll explain why and show you what different looks like.
Real-world planning
Your financial goals should fit your actual life. We work with what you have now and build from there—not some idealized version of your circumstances.
Long-term thinking
Quick fixes rarely work with money. We focus on sustainable approaches that hold up when life inevitably throws you curveballs.
People who actually listen
Our team brings diverse backgrounds in finance, education, and client service. What we share is a genuine interest in understanding your situation before suggesting solutions.

We've deliberately kept our team small. When you work with xelurathomi, you're not passed around different departments. You get consistent support from people who remember your previous conversations and understand where you're heading.
How we work with you
Every client situation differs, but our process stays consistent because it works. Here's what collaborating with xelurathomi typically looks like.
Initial conversation
We spend about 90 minutes getting to know your current financial picture. Bring whatever documents you have—bank statements, super statements, loan details. We'll review them together and identify what's working and what needs attention.
Goal mapping session
Once we understand where you are, we talk about where you want to go. This isn't about vague aspirations—we work on specific targets with realistic timeframes. Retirement at 60? House deposit in three years? Education fund for the kids? We build the framework.
Strategy development
We create a written plan that connects your current position to your goals. You'll see the numbers, understand the assumptions, and know exactly what actions come next. We explain the reasoning behind each recommendation so you can make informed decisions.
Ongoing support
Financial planning isn't a one-time event. We check in quarterly to track progress and adjust when life changes. Job switch? New baby? Inheritance? We'll modify the plan accordingly.
